ABOUT SCOTT DONALDSON

EARLY YEARS
Scott’s mom and dad left Ohio in 1960 looking for opportunity and decided to follow Route 66 to Southern California. They arrived in Orange County where Scott was born. His family, which includes a brother and sister, eventually moved to Corona where Scott grew up.
He attended Norco High School where he excelled in the classroom and on the sports field. He was elected Class President and his performance on the baseball field led to his induction into the school’s Athletic Hall of Fame.
Scott’s accomplishments as a scholar, athlete and leader earned him acceptance to the United States Military Academy at West Point.

RETIREMENT
One of Scott's best decisions was marrying his long time girlfriend and Seaside native Mary-Frances Dunn. They fell in love with Del Rey Oaks, bought a house along their walking route on Portola Drive, and inspired by its natural beauty, were married in the Frog Pond.
Always looking for a challenge, Scott completely remodeled his house upon finishing his military service. After 14 months, the project was complete and continues to be one of his proudest accomplishments.
Scott is dedicated to preserving the quality of life in this wonderful city where he lives with his family and the sweetest Golden Retriever you’ll ever meet -- Poppy.
MILITARY YEARS
After graduating and being commissioned as a lieutenant, Scott served in a variety of military assignments which included several overseas tours. He served in Germany where he witnessed firsthand the fall of the Berlin Wall and the end of the Cold War. He deployed to the conflicts in Bosnia and Kosovo, and the War in Iraq. During his combat tour, he provided oversight for all counter-terrorism operations in Baghdad and was ultimately awarded the Bronze Star Medal.
Scott was also responsible for commissioning hundreds of new lieutenants through the Army ROTC program and served as a professor at UC Berkeley and the University of San Francisco where he earned an MBA.
After serving continuously on active duty for 28 years and achieving the rank of Colonel, Scott culminated his military career as the California State Inspector General for the National Guard.
